A NOTE FROM FR. ROB SULLIVAN
Dear Parish Community of Our Lady Star of the Sea,
“Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ” (Rom 1: 7). My official name is Robert Sullivan, but I am commonly known as Fr. Rob or Fr. Robby. A native of the Diocese of Monterey, I was born here in Santa Cruz and grew up in Watsonville. I am from Irish and Mexican descent, and I am the youngest of four children. From my parents and siblings, I learned the value of faith and the development of a relationship with God, which laid the foundation for my vocation.
Following graduation from the University of Notre Dame in 2004, I joined the Congregation of Holy Cross, a religious community dedicated to being educators in the faith. However, after discerning that I was not called to religious life, I returned to Watsonville, and two years later, became a seminarian in our diocese. I completed my education at Mount Angel Seminary in Oregon, and became a priest on November 30, 2013.
My first assignment was parochial vicar at Sacred Heart & St. Benedict Parish in Hollister, where I served four years. Then, I moved to Salinas to serve as parochial vicar of Sacred Heart Parish, where I spent this past year. And now, I am looking forward to serving and becoming a part of this community at Our Lady Star of the Sea. I am passionate about the ministry of priesthood in general, and my greatest passions are preaching, youth, and RCIA. I also enjoy reading, hiking, and watching movies. May God bless you, now and always.
In Christ,
Fr. Rob Sullivan
