YOUNG LADIES INSTITUTE (YLI)

President: Sue Parker, 425-0937

Who We Are
YLI is an organization of Catholic women dedicated to the Christian principles of charity and love. It was founded in San Francisco on September 5, 1887 by three young women inspired to help an ill friend. Our purpose is to help others. Our history reflects a sisterly care and concern for each other and for those in need.

What We Do
Each year a program of charitable activities is selected by the incoming president. Some programs we have supported include: Special Olympics, Hospice, children in need, Multiple Sclerosis Foundation, Guide Dogs for the Blind, and more. Other spiritual, cultural and educational activities include support of Golden Jubilee Burse for Seminarians, perpetual novena, scholarships, aid to YLI members, involvement in church related projects, quarterly and annual communions, a variety of social events, affiliation with National Council of Catholic Women. A newsletter, the Voice, keeps members informed regarding all Institute activities and news.

What You Can Expect
We offer you friendship, support, leadership training and the opportunity to make a difference to those in need. Through YLI’s participation in charitable projects, you will have the opportunity to promote the work of the Church while working hand in hand with other Catholic women. We invite you to cultivate new friendships, and work together toward a better, more beautiful world. Come grow with us.
